The Boston Tea Party
On December 17, 1773, the colonists decided that enough was enough. They dressed themselves up as Mohawk Native Americans and began to throw all of the tea into the Boston Harbor. They did it late at night so they wouldn't get caught by the British soldiers.
They wasted a lot of tea, and it cost King George III and Britain a lot of money to replace.

King George III closed down Boston Harbor because of the Boston Tea Party, and this angered the colonists.
The Boston Tea Party was only the beginning of the problems between the colonists and the British, and the fighting continued until the British surrendered, or quite fighting, in 1781.
